Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Negombo
Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, we transfer you to a beachside hotel in Negombo. This former fishing village and colonial port town offers the perfect introduction to the island with its golden beaches and laid-back atmosphere. Today, settle into your comfortable accommodation and prepare for the adventure that begins tomorrow.

Day 2: Anamaduwa
Today, we rise early this morning for a serene boat ride along the historic Hamilton Canal, watching the world awaken on its banks. As we glide through the calm waters, we pass bustling fishing villages where families sort their fresh catch and mend their nets after a long night at sea — a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s timeless coastal rhythm. Our journey continues into the main lagoon, where we stop at a small mangrove island. Here, we share stories about local traditions and sip on refreshing King Coconuts while drifting across the mirror-smooth water, surrounded by nature’s quiet beauty.
After this tranquil start, we continue our journey inland to Anamaduwa, checking in our resort. The nearby lake invites us to unwind — perfect for a swim or a bit of birdwatching. As the day softens into evening, we set out on a gentle lake excursion, soaking in the stillness and watching flocks of birds sweep across the dusky sky — the perfect close to a day of simple, soulful discoveries.

Day 3: Anamaduwa
Today, we set off early this morning for our first adventure — a thrilling tractor ride through the countryside to the base of the majestic Thonigala Rock. From here, we begin our hike to the summit, where ancient rock inscriptions — the largest in Sri Lanka — tell stories of a distant past. The views from the top are breathtaking, and the sense of discovery is unmatched. After descending, we return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast before heading out again to explore the surrounding village. As we wander, we learn about local plants, trees, and the intricate ecosystems sustained by the nearby lakes — a peaceful way to connect with nature and the rhythms of rural Sri Lankan life.

Day 4: Dambulla
After breakfast, we set out toward Dambulla, journeying through lush countryside and vibrant village scenes. In the afternoon, we take on the rewarding climb up Pidurangala Rock, one of Sri Lanka’s best-kept secrets. The trail winds past an ancient Buddhist temple, where we pause to admire centuries-old statues and carvings before tackling the final ascent over rocky boulders. As we reach the summit, we’re greeted by sweeping 360-degree views of the majestic Sigiriya fortress rising proudly nearby, surrounded by jungle and distant misty mountains. Just as the sun begins to set, the entire landscape glows in hues of gold and amber, a breathtaking moment that makes the climb completely worth every step.

Day 5: Dambulla
We rise early to catch the cool morning air as we head to the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress — Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmark. Known as the “Lion Rock,” this 5th-century marvel features giant lion’s paws carved in stone that mark the entrance to a steep climb of 1,200 steps. As we ascend, ancient frescoes and mirror walls whisper stories of a bygone era, and from the summit, we’re rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the jungle and distant villages below. In the evening, we set out on a thrilling jeep safari through Minneriya National Park, spotting herds of wild elephants. The day ends perfectly with a fun-filled Hopper Party, where we savor freshly made hoppers and try cooking our own!

Day 6: Kandy
After a leisurely breakfast, today we journey to the hill capital of Kandy — a city steeped in culture, charm, and scenic beauty. Upon arrival, we enjoy a delicious local lunch before setting out in the early evening for an immersive cultural walk. This experience takes us beyond the tourist path and into the heart of local life. We wander through leafy footpaths and quiet village lanes, greeted by warm smiles from residents who welcome us into their homes. Along the way, we stop to chat with families, witness small cottage industries at work, and gain insight into their simple yet fulfilling way of life. As the sun dips and a cool breeze sweeps through, we end the walk with a comforting cup of tea shared with a local family — the perfect glimpse into authentic Sri Lankan hospitality.

Day 7: Kandy
After breakfast, today we embark on an unforgettable cycling adventure through Sri Lanka’s lush tea country. We start with a short transfer to the Ceylon Tea Museum, where our ride begins. Together, we pedal along winding trails through the scenic Hanthana Tea Plantation, surrounded by emerald hills and misty air. Along the way, we meet local tea pickers, visit a tea workers’ village, and immerse ourselves in their daily life and Hindu culture.
Pause to enjoy a traditional snack with freshly brewed tea before arriving at the historic Melfort Tea Factory for a fascinating visit. After our 50 km ride, we finally return to our hotel to relax. In the evening, we explore Kandy, pay our respects at the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, and take a leisurely walk through the city streets, soaking in its charm and history.

Day 8: Ella
Today you witness one of the most scenic train ride. After breakfast, we continue our journey into the cool highlands as we make our way to Nuwara Eliya. Along the way, we pause at the magnificent Ramboda Waterfalls, one of the tallest in the world. Here, we can stretch our legs, feel the refreshing spray on our faces, and even take a dip in the crystal-clear waters.
From Nanuoya, we board one of the most breathtaking train rides in the world — a journey to Ella that winds through emerald tea plantations, rolling mountains, and quaint hillside villages. As the train chugs along at a gentle pace, we sit back, sip a cup of Ceylon tea, and soak in the stunning scenery — an experience that feels timeless and truly unforgettable.

Day 9: Ella
Today, we lace up our boots and set out on the exhilarating Ella Rock hike, one of Sri Lanka’s most scenic trails. The path winds through tea plantations and misty hills before leading us to the summit, where breathtaking 360-degree views of the valley unfold before us. Endless green ridges and the fresh mountain air is the perfect reward for our climb.
After the hike, we dive into more thrilling adventures in Ella. We can soar across the valley on the Mega Zipline, gliding over the hills at speeds up to 80 km/h for a true bird’s-eye view of paradise. Or, for something equally exciting, we can try abseiling, descending a rockface while admiring the dramatic vistas of Ella Rock and the cascading Ravana Falls.

Day 10: Haputale
Today, we rev up for an exhilarating motorbike adventure around Ella, taking on every kind of terrain — from muddy trails and dirt tracks to winding slopes through lush tea fields and dense jungles. As we ride, we are treated to stunning views at every turn, with picture-perfect vistas of the enchanting Ella Gap. One of the highlights of our journey will be a stop at the exclusive “Ravana Lookout,” a hidden gem offering a breathtaking 270-degree panoramic view — truly the most spectacular vantage point in Ella.
After soaking in the views, we continue our scenic ride towards Haputale, winding through misty hills and emerald landscapes. Upon arrival, we check in to our hotel and spend the evening at leisure, relaxing and reliving the day’s thrilling adventures.

Day 11: Tangalle
After breakfast, we set off on one of Sri Lanka’s most thrilling hill adventures is the famous Devil’s Staircase trail. Winding through tea estates, forest paths, and rugged slopes, this hike offers both challenge and breathtaking beauty. One of the highlights is the striking “V-Cut,” a narrow channel carved right through the mountain to make way for the road, an incredible feat of engineering amidst nature.
Continuing onward, we reach the majestic Bambarakanda Falls, Sri Lanka’s tallest waterfall. Here, we pause to take in the roaring cascade and perhaps dip our feet in the cool, clear pool at its base. After an exhilarating morning, we continue our scenic journey to Tangalle, where we check into our coastal hotel and unwind by the sea.

Day 12: Tangalle
Today is all about relaxation and rejuvenation, giving us a chance to unwind a day before departure. After a leisurely breakfast, we can spend the morning soaking up the sun by the pool at our resort, enjoying the serene surroundings and gentle ocean breeze. For those who wish, a calming stroll along the pristine beach offers the perfect way to connect with nature. Indulge in a spa treatment or simply curl up with a book while listening to the waves.
In the evening, there is an option to visit Rekawa turtle hatchery. We have opportunity to watch sea turtles coming on to the shore to lay eggs. Out of the seven marine turtle species found in the world, five are found in Sri Lanka.
As the day winds down, we savour a relaxed dinner, letting the calm and beauty of Tangalle prepare us for the next leg of our adventure.
Day 13: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the airport begins. Sit back and enjoy the scenic drive as we reflect on our unforgettable Sri Lankan adventure. Upon arrival, we complete airport formalities, ready for our onward flight.

The period from December to April is ideal, with dry and sunny conditions across the south, central hills, and Cultural Triangle. These months are perfect for combining adventure activities with sightseeing and nature exploration. Late November and May can also be suitable, with occasional showers that rarely disrupt outdoor activities.
The Southwest Monsoon (May to September) brings rain to the south and central hills, while the Northeast Monsoon (October to January) affects the north and east, making some regions less suitable for outdoor adventures.
