Day 1: Saig

The evening is free for relaxation as you prepare for the first stage of your hike along the renowned Querweg trail that crosses the Black Forest toward Lake Constance.

Day 2: Löffingen

Your hike begins on the Saiger height above Lake Titisee, where panoramic views stretch across the lake, the Feldberg massif, and on clear days even toward the distant Alps. The trail follows the high ridge before descending into one of the most impressive landscapes of the region, the Wutach Gorge nature reserve.

Here the path winds through a dramatic setting of rocky cliffs, rushing water, and forested slopes that create an almost primeval atmosphere. Cascading waterfalls and narrow valleys add to the sense of adventure as you follow the river through this protected landscape. At Schattenmühle, you conclude the hiking stage before continuing by bus to your overnight stay in Löffingen.

Day 3: Blumberg

After returning by bus to Schattenmühle, the day’s hike continues along the scenic banks of the Wutach River. The route eventually leads to Achdorf, where the river turns toward the Rhine. Day 4: Tengen

The trail continues through a charming rural landscape of forests, fields, and gentle hills before arriving in the quiet town of Tengen, where you spend the evening.

Day 5: Engen

From these elevated points, hikers enjoy expansive views across the Hegau landscape and, on clear days, glimpses of the snow-covered peaks of the Alps in the distance. The route gradually descends through open meadows and quiet forest paths that create a relaxed and pleasant walking experience.

By afternoon you reach Engen, a picturesque town where you can stroll through the charming old town streets and admire its historic character.

Day 6: Singen

Today’s route unfolds in the heart of the Hegau volcanic landscape, where ancient volcanic cones rise dramatically from the surrounding countryside. The mountains Hohentwiel, Hohenstoffeln, Hohenkrähen, Mägdeberg, Hohenhewen, Neuhewen, and Höwenegg form a remarkable chain across the region.

One of the highlights is the 845 meter high Hohenhewen, where the remains of an old fortress still stand. From its observation point, hikers are rewarded with spectacular views across Hegau and, on clear days, even toward Lake Constance and the Alps.

Continuing across open fields and scenic trails, you pass the ruins of Mägdeberg before descending into Singen, a lively town known for its cultural landmarks and historical monuments.

Day 7: Radolfzell am Bodensee

From this vantage point you enjoy magnificent views across the Untersee, including the island of Reichenau and the Mettnau peninsula near Radolfzell.

Soon after, the trail leaves the Querweg route and enters the Mindelsee nature reserve, a peaceful protected area known for its rich wildlife and scenic lake landscapes. Following quiet paths through this natural environment, you approach the lakeside town of Radolfzell, where the journey concludes beside the calm waters of Lake Constance.

Your tour begins in Saig, near Titisee in Germany’s Black Forest. The most convenient way to reach the starting point is by flying into Zurich Airport (ZRH). From Zurich Airport, take a train to Freiburg im Breisgau, then continue by regional train to Titisee or Neustadt (Schwarzwald). From there, a short bus or taxi ride will take you to your hotel in Saig.

The full journey usually takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. Taxis are available at the train stations if you prefer a direct transfer to your accommodation.

Your tour ends in Radolfzell am Bodensee on the shores of Lake Constance. For your onward journey, travel by regional train to Zurich Airport (ZRH), which is the most convenient international airport for departures. The train journey from Radolfzell to Zurich Airport typically takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, with easy connections through Swiss rail services.

Taxis can also be arranged from your hotel to the Radolfzell train station if needed.
