The Dolomites hiking season varies throughout the year depending on weather conditions.
The off-season from November to April is characterized by heavy snowfall, freezing temperatures often ranging from -5°C to 10°C (23°F to 50°F), and closed mountain refuges, making hiking unsuitable.
May and October are considered mixed months, with temperatures between 5°C to 15°C (41°F to 59°F), where conditions can be unpredictable due to lingering snow in spring or early snowfall in autumn.
The best time for hiking is in June and September, when temperatures are pleasant, ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F), with fewer crowds and mostly clear, snow-free trails.
July and August fall under the good season, offering the warmest weather with temperatures between 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F), though these months can be crowded and may experience occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Overall, the ideal hiking period in the Dolomites is from June to September, when conditions are most favorable.

Purchase travel insurance as soon as you've paid in full or booked your flights.
