Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Chamonix
Arrive in the legendary mountain town of Chamonix, positioned beneath Europe's highest peak, Mont Blanc. After checking into your accommodation around 5pm, spend the afternoon exploring this iconic alpine destination. The dramatic backdrop of rocky summits, hanging glaciers, and towering Mont Blanc creates an unforgettable first impression. Use this time to familiarize yourself with the town's charming streets and prepare for the hiking days ahead.

Day 2: Chamonix
Begin the day with a scenic bus ride through the Chamonix valley to the charming alpine village of Argentière. The trail follows the spectacular Balcon des Aiguilles Rouges, gradually climbing toward the breathtaking Lac Blanc. Along the way, hikers are rewarded with unforgettable views of the Mont Blanc massif, towering glaciers, jagged peaks, and the famous Mer de Glace. The descent leads through peaceful alpine paths toward Le Praz before returning to Chamonix, with the option to shorten the final section via the La Flégère cable car.

Day 3: Chamonix
Spend another day exploring the legendary mountain landscapes surrounding Chamonix. After taking the cable car toward Plan Praz or Le Brévent, the route follows one of the final sections of the iconic Tour du Mont Blanc trail toward Les Houches. Panoramic alpine scenery, dramatic ridgelines, and sweeping valley views accompany the walk throughout the day before returning to Chamonix by train or public bus.

Day 4: La Clusaz
After a short transfer to Les Houches, a cable car ascent to Bellevue offers an easier start to the day. The trail winds through forests and alpine meadows with magnificent views over the Bionnassay Valley, glaciers, and the snowy peaks surrounding Mont Blanc. Crossing the scenic Col de Tricot, the path descends through a series of dramatic switchbacks toward the peaceful hamlet of Chalet de Miage and the traditional village of Les Contamines. A private transfer later brings travelers into the heart of the beautiful Aravis region and the authentic alpine village of La Clusaz.

Day 5: La Clusaz
Today offers two rewarding hiking choices above La Clusaz, surrounded by the scenic landscapes of the Aravis mountains. The shorter route climbs toward Tête du Danay through alpine pastures and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Bouchet Valley and surrounding peaks. The longer option crosses the Aravis Pass and Pointe de Beauregard, delivering a more challenging day filled with spectacular mountain scenery and wide-open ridgelines.

Day 6: Le Chinaillon
Begin with a bus ride to Lac des Confins. Hike through high mountain pastures on the Confins plateau before reaching the dramatic cirque at the end of Bouchet valley. Pass beneath Pointe du Roulletaz and the towering Pointe Percée, the highest summit in the Aravis range. Cross the passes of Borneronde and Annes, stopping at the mountain cottage for lunch. Descend to the hamlet of Chinaillon beneath the ridges of Pointes d'Almet and Grande Combe.

Day 7: Le Chinaillon
Climb from Chinaillon through the chalets of Guillery to Col de la Colombière pass. Two summit options await: the challenging Pointe de Balafrasse route ascends through the Bargy range past Peyre lake to reach spectacular 360-degree views at 2296 meters. Alternatively, experienced hikers can tackle Tête d'Auferrand's ridge walk, though this requires good weather and sure footing. Both routes return to Chinaillon via the same path.

Day 8: Le Grand Bornand
Ascend to the dramatic ridge of Aiguille Verte overlooking Lessy Lake, with outstanding views toward Pointe Percée. Cross Col de la Forclaz and descend to the hamlet of Mayse, where a mountain cottage offers refreshments. Continue climbing to the pass of Planay between Roc des Tours and Roc des Charmieux. The final descent winds through Mouilles and Tannaz before reaching the traditional village of Grand Bornand.

Day 9: Annecy
Begin with an early private transfer to Montremont. Climb to the pass of Nantets on the shoulder of La Tournette, the highest peak near Lake Annecy. Descend beneath the Dents de Lanfon formations to reach Talloires on the lakeshore. Board the scenic Navibus boat shuttle for a relaxing cruise around the lake to Annecy, passing through Doussard and Duingt. Alternatively, travel by public bus directly to Annecy.
Day 10: Annecy
Depart after breakfast and 10am checkout. For those with extra time, an optional ridge hike is available: take the public bus to Col de Bluffy, then ascend Mont Barret ridge to Col de Contrebandiers. Continue to Mont Baron's viewpoint before following the ridge to Mont Veyrier at 1291 meters. The descent brings you to the edge of pristine Lake Annecy, completing your alpine journey.

The alpine region between Chamonix and Annecy experiences a variety of seasonal landscapes throughout the year, creating different conditions and atmospheres for hiking and outdoor exploration.
The prime hiking months are July and August, when temperatures typically range from 15–25°C (59–77°F). Warm sunny days, clear mountain trails, and stable weather conditions make this the ideal period for trekking in the Alps.
June and September are regarded as very good months for hiking, with temperatures between 8–22°C (46–72°F). Early summer brings blooming alpine meadows and fresh greenery, while September offers cooler air and stunning golden autumn scenery across the mountains.
May and October are considered transitional months, with temperatures averaging 5–18°C (41–64°F). Weather during this period can be less predictable, and higher-altitude trails may still have snow in spring or receive early snowfall in autumn.
Between November and April, hiking conditions become more limited as winter arrives in the Alps. Temperatures generally range from -8–8°C (18–46°F), and snowfall covers much of the region. During these colder months, the area becomes a popular destination for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter activities.
