Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Passau
Our journey begins in the charming town of Passau, where the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers meet. Take time to explore its cobblestone streets, baroque architecture, and the grand St. Stephen’s Cathedral, home to the world’s largest church organ. Stroll along the riverfront or relax at a local café before boarding the ship in the late afternoon.
Once aboard, we settle into our cabin and meet fellow travelers over a welcome cocktail. As the ship casts off, we watch the fairytale skyline of Passau fade into the distance. The evening is ours to unwind, enjoy dinner, and soak in the gentle rhythm of the river.

Day 2: Brandstatt
Today’s route takes us through the scenic “Great Loop” of the Danube, where the river bends dramatically through forested hills. Cycle past sleepy Austrian villages and traditional cider houses, stopping at the Trappist monastery in Engelhartszell to taste its handmade liqueurs and cheeses.
The trail offers postcard-perfect views, especially from the famous “Schlögener Viewpoint.” We end our ride in Brandstatt, where the ship welcomes you back with refreshments. Relax on deck as the sun sets over the water.

Day 3: Bratislava
We ride along the former Iron Curtain, crossing the Green Line before reaching the grand Imperial Schloss Hof Palace and its elegant terraced gardens.
The route then follows bike paths through Austria’s “vegetable garden,” leading to Bratislava, the historic coronation capital at the foothills of the Little Carpathians, where an optional city tour reveals its charming streets and hidden sights.

Day 4: Szntendre
As the ship glides into Budapest, we enjoy one of Europe’s most stunning city arrivals. Spend the day exploring Hungary’s capital by bus or bike, discovering landmarks like Buda Castle, the Parliament Building, and the Chain Bridge. Alternatively, cycle to the artsy riverside town of Szentendre, known for its galleries, boutiques, and Mediterranean feel. Back in Budapest, evening brings another chance to experience the city. Perhaps dinner ashore or a stroll through the illuminated Jewish Quarter.

Day 5: Esztergom
Today’s ride winds through the scenic “Hungarian Wachau,” a landscape of rolling hills and river views. Stop at the farmers’ market in Vác to sample local produce and handmade treats. Continue through historic villages and along quiet paths toward Esztergom, one of Hungary’s oldest towns.
Its grand basilica is the largest in the country which dominates the skyline and makes a perfect photo stop.

Day 6: Vienna
Whether exploring by bike or bus, Vienna’s iconic landmarks are easily discovered on an optional city tour. The grand Ringstrasse reflects the city’s imperial past, while historic cafés invite us to sample classic Viennese pastries.
The day can conclude with a visit to the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace, followed by an optional evening of classical waltz and operetta music. Overnight, the ship sails on toward the Wachau Valley.

Day 7: Melk
Our last biking day is a special highlight in the renowned UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site Wachau Valley. This hilly landscape is enchanting, filled with apricot trees, vineyards, and dreamy towns. You will see a powerful ruin above Dürnstein and the famous blue spire of its monastery church.
Traditional wine taverns along the path invite you to stop for a local wine tasting (optional). The cycle concludes near the Benedictine Abbey of Melk, an architectural marvel overlooking the Danube.
Day 8: Passau
Enjoy the early morning sunshine and the peaceful cruise back up the Danube. The ship will wind its way back to Passau, where your journey concludes. Disembarkation is scheduled for approximately 11:00 a.m. It is recommended that you book any connecting travel for 12:00 p.m. onwards.
