Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi
Our guide will meet you in the hotel lobby at 13:00 pm for an afternoon walking tour of Hanoi. Highlights include the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda, and the Temple of Literature. We’ll then stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake and the lively Old Quarter, followed by a traditional water puppet show. The day concludes with a warm welcome dinner.

Day 2: Hoang Su Phi
Our guide and driver will pick you up at 8:00 AM and transfer you to Hoang Su Phi. Enjoy the stunning scenery along the way, with rolling hills and lush landscapes that set the tone for your journey. You will arrive in the mid-afternoon and check in to your accommodation.
Once settled, take some time to explore the surroundings and stretch your legs in preparation for the hiking days ahead. We’ll enjoy a short hike to nearby villages such as Nam Hong, where you can experience local life, meet friendly villagers, and immerse yourself in the region’s culture.
Driving time - 6 hours

Day 3: Hoang Su Phi
After breakfast at the lodge, we’ll spend the day hiking deeper into the Hoang Su Phi region, exploring remote mountain villages such as Nam Son. This area is famous for its stunning terraced rice fields, admired not only for their natural beauty but also for their cultural significance to the Dao and Tay ethnic communities. A picnic lunch will be served during the hike. In the late afternoon, we’ll return to the lodge for your second overnight stay. Please note - 2km is gentle uphill and the rest is downhill.

Day 4: Quan Ba
After breakfast, we depart Hoang Su Phi and journey toward the highlands of Ha Giang and the breathtaking Karst Geopark. Along the way, enjoy scenic views and stop for photos, including a visit to the iconic Quan Ba Heaven Gate, which offers sweeping vistas of misty mountains and winding roads.
Today’s hike begins here, following a trail that descends through mountain canyons lined with rice terraces and cornfields. After crossing a bridge and climbing a small hill, our driver will be waiting to transfer you to Quan Ba town. Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation, and spend the rest of the day relaxing, exploring the town, or connecting with the locals.
Drive time - 3.5-4 hours

Day 5: Meo Vac
This morning, we leave Quan Ba and head to Dong Van town. The drive through the rugged limestone mountains offers awe-inspiring views, with several scenic stops for photos and short hikes. One highlight is the Tham Ma slope, offering panoramic views of winding roads framed by towering peaks and lush valleys—perfect for photography. Along the way, we’ll also visit Pho Cao H’Mong village, Pho Bang ancient town, and the famous House of Pao—also known as the Palace of the H’mong King, a historic home of the Vuong family.
By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Dong Van town. Check into your hotel and enjoy some rest before dinner, ready for more unforgettable experiences tomorrow.

Day 6: Dong Van
Though just 25 km from Dong Van, the drive to Meo Vac along the "Happy Road" offers stunning views of the Nho Que River winding through the dramatic Tu San Abyss.
This morning, we hike to Ma Pang Village (Thien Huong), a quiet Tay ethnic hamlet near the Chinese border. The path is scenic and narrow, with steep slopes and deep valleys.
Afterward, we transfer to Ma Pi Leng Pass and trek along the Sky Walk, a rocky trail carved into limestone cliffs. It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the Nho Que River far below. We then continue by road to Meo Vac, a picturesque mountain town home to H’mong and Hoa communities. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax for the evening

Day 7: Cao Bang
We begin our journey descending into Cao Bang Province, passing through the scenic Khau Coc Cha Pass. Lunch will be enjoyed en route, with several stops for short hikes and photo opportunities. In the afternoon, we arrive in Cao Bang City, check in to our hotel, and relax. Dinner and overnight are in Cao Bang.
If today is Sunday, you can visit the vibrant weekly market that takes place in town. This market is a lively gathering spot for the Mong ethnic community to sell homemade goods and farm produce and trade cattle. It is a fantastic opportunity to capture striking photos of locals in traditional attire, full of character and culture.

Day 8: Cao Bang
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive to Ma Phuc Pass before a 6 km hike to Phia Thap Village, known for incense-making traditions. Continue to Phuc Sen Village to see Nung blacksmiths at work, then marvel at the majestic Ban Gioc Waterfall with a bamboo raft ride on the Quay Son River. After lunch, explore the stalactite-filled Nguom Ngao Cave before returning to Cao Bang for your overnight stay.

Day 9: Ba Be
This morning we head to Ba Be Lake, Vietnam’s largest natural lake, surrounded by limestone cliffs, valleys, caves, and ethnic villages of the Tay, H’mong, and Dao. The scenic drive passes mountain routes like Tai Ho Sin, Cao Bac, Khau Khang, and Gio Pass, with stops to meet locals and capture stunning views. At Ba Be National Park, we board a boat on the Nang River, hiking to waterfalls such as Dau Dang before cruising through Puong Grotto, home to thousands of bats, and ending at our overnight stay.

Day 10: Hanoi
On the final morning of the trip, we explore nearby villages and hike the upper reaches of Ba Be Lake, an area framed by towering limestone cliffs and rugged mountains. Then, we visit Hua Ma Cave, the largest dry cave in Northeast Vietnam. it is known for its impressive stalactites and quiet grandeur. Afterward, we begin our journey back to Hanoi, concluding a memorable adventure.

Arrive at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) and make your own way to the hotel. You have several convenient options:
Taxi – Readily available at the airport; a trip to the Old Quarter takes about 40–50 minutes and costs around 350,000–400,000 VND (USD 14–16). Use official airport taxi counters to avoid scams.
Grab (ride-hailing app) – A reliable and often cheaper alternative to taxis; rides to the city center average 250,000–300,000 VND (USD 10–12).
Shuttle Bus – Airport shuttle buses (such as Vietnam Airlines or Jetstar services) run to central Hanoi for 40,000–60,000 VND (USD 2–3), with a travel time of about 1 hour.
Departure Details:
On your final day, please arrange your own transfer back to Noi Bai International Airport. The same options apply: taxis and Grab provide the fastest and most direct service, while shuttle buses offer an affordable choice for solo travelers. Allow at least 3-4 hours before your flight to account for traffic and check-in.
Weather
October, November, February, and March are the best months for hiking in Northern Vietnam, with cool, dry weather and clear skies that make trekking through terraced rice fields, limestone peaks, and serene lakes. April, May, and September are warm, with occasional showers that turn the hills lush and green, carrying the soft scent of blossoms and fresh rain.
December and January can be cold in the mountains of northern Vietnam given the high altitude. Expect temperatures of around 15-20°C (59-68°F) during the day and occasional frost during the night.
