Weather
The Algarve region in Portugal offers fantastic hiking opportunities throughout the year thanks to its mild Mediterranean climate. However, the best time to explore the coastal trails is during spring from April to June and autumn from September to October. These months bring pleasantly warm temperatures without the scorching heat, and rainfall remains low, making it ideal for long scenic hikes. The trails are quieter too, offering a peaceful experience away from the busy tourist crowds of summer. While July and August showcase Algarve’s full sunshine, the intense heat can make midday hiking challenging, so early morning treks are preferred. Winter, from November to February, is considered off-season but still attracts those who enjoy cooler temperatures and solitude, though occasional rain is expected. Each season offers a different charm, but for the perfect balance of weather, views, and comfort, spring and autumn stand out as the most enjoyable for hiking along Algarve’s dramatic cliffs and golden coastlines.
