Climate Overview
The Gökova Gulf region (around Bodrum and the Datça Peninsula) has a classic Eastern Mediterranean climate:
Spring (April – May)
Temperature: 18°C – 26°C
Spring offers some of the most comfortable cycling conditions of the year. The landscape is green after winter, temperatures are moderate, and the air is clear. Rides feel fresh and enjoyable, especially on climbs.
Sea temperatures are still on the cooler side, so swimming is possible but less inviting in early spring.
Best for: Cycling-focused travelers who prefer mild weather.
Summer (June – August)
Temperature: 28°C – 38°C
Summer is hot, dry, and sunny with very little rainfall. Conditions are excellent for swimming, and the sea becomes a central part of the experience.
Cycling is more demanding, especially on climbs, and typically more comfortable in the mornings. A regional coastal wind (Meltemi) can provide some relief but should not be relied upon.
Best for: Travelers who enjoy warm weather and combining cycling with swimming.
Autumn (September – October)
Temperature: 22°C – 30°C
Autumn is widely considered the best overall season. Temperatures remain warm but more comfortable than summer, and the sea is still warm for swimming.
Cycling conditions are excellent, with stable weather and fewer crowds along the coast.
Best for: A balanced experience of cycling, swimming, and comfortable temperatures.
